Soil remediation program at an oil field in Azerbaijan:
This project is being conducted in four steps
:
1. Survey and analysis of the contaminated area
2. Method testing: Ex-situ soil steam and washing treatment
3. Application of the best practicable and most efficient technique
4. Monitoring of the remediated site
The project is currently (09/2007) in phase two (method testing).
It needs intensive checking and preinvestigation to obtain good
treatment results. Different types of soils under
different climatic
conditions
with varying contaminates respond differently. This is
the
reason why the decontamination of huge sites is time consuming
and may even require
the development of a special method.
